Laneway Housing Now Available in Vancouver...
What is Laneway Housing?
Laneway Housing is a small house or cottage at the rear of a single family lot. The City of Vancouver has unanimously approved the LWH project on July 28, 2009. About 70,000 single-family lots across the city are eligible to add the new homes, which can only be built in the area usually reserved for a garage, and only used for personal use or rented and not stratified. The city will monitor the project activity and will report to council after 3 years or 100 units, whichever comes first.
Klondike Contracting's Plan for Laneway Housing
Klondike has developed our own Laneway Homes program starting at $125,000 & increases depending on size, specifications & individual site conditions. Currently, we have a number of different proposed architectural styles & floor plans to choose from.
These structures will not only help with eco-density and rental issues, but they will also assist home owners with their mortgage, as these homes should rent out for considerably more money than the mortgage cost of the construction costs. In addition, the addition of a Laneway Home on a single family lot will significantly increase the property value.
As there has been a lot of interest in Laneway Homes and only a limited number of units allowed for the pilot project, we have established an email list to keep you updated. In the coming weeks, we will be posting architectural styles, elevations & floor plans for different Laneway Homes on our web site. Sign up to our Laneway Homes email list to receive the latest updates.
